Activity Description:
Environmental and personnel exposure is present in eight out of ten compounding pharmacies. The workflow strategies that can minimize and potentially eliminate these exposures can be achieved with simple methods for little to no extra cost to the pharmacy.

Learning Objectives for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians:
• Identify common activities during compounding formulation where personnel and environmental exposure occur
• Identify proper use of engineering controls to mitigate personnel and environmental exposure
• Define safe compounding strategies for minimizing personnel and environmental exposure
• Outline best practice for cleaning and waste removal for hazardous drugs

This is a knowledge-based CE activity and is targeted to pharmacists and technicians.
